Perry: What made you reach out to Philly Phitness?

I had been kicking around the idea of getting a trainer with a friend for a while and always put it off till after something, after a work trip, after a holiday, after a vacation. I stepped on the scale one day, saw my highest weight ever and ended up sending an email to you that afternoon. Your quick reply to set up a consultation kept me from jumping off the wagon (Thank you!). After looking online at different places, I felt the reviews of Philly Phitness were honest and energizing, which made me feel comfortable reaching out. Little did I know what I was in for…

Perry: How did things go in the beginning?  

I was so discouraged in the beginning, just walking up the stairs would leave me short of breath! Don’t even get me started on how sore I was after just the assessment! I had NEVER “worked out” before and being overweight was not helping! I must have asked Gabby dozens of times “when am I NOT going to feel like I am going to die?”. She kept telling me it will come… I haven’t died yet… and I have stopped asking. At least on most days!

Perry: Did you see results right away?

No. I clearly knew my start weight because seeing the number on the scale hit me like a ton of bricks. I started tracking my weight and it was a slow go at first. Eventually the pounds started to come off and other people started to recognize a change before I really did.

Perry: What was the BIGGEST thing that ‘clicked’ for you? What happened once it clicked?

Consistency. Finding a way to try and be active every day. Getting my butt to grocery store to ensure I have the right things to eat. Establishing a new normal. Once I had that in place, everything became easier and didn’t seem so overwhelming.

Perry: What has been your biggest achievement? What are you the most proud about?

Numbers on the scale are great but I am happy to remove clothing from my closet that I was hiding in 30 pounds ago. I’m proud that I am starting to feel comfortable in my own skin again and not hiding every time someone goes to take a picture!

Perry: Where are you now along your journey?

I hate to say it, but I actually look forward to my workouts with Gabby! I went to the hotel gym on a work trip and not just to use the sauna. I want to continue to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone when it comes to fitness and try new things.

Perry: What do you believe is possible now?  What’s next!?

My goal weight is totally possible to me now. I didn’t really believe I would get there when signing up for all of this… more than a goal weight, I want to continue to get stronger. I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish physically! Next? I have this pair of skinny jeans I’m working on getting in to… and maybe actually being able to execute a negative pull-up (is that even the correct term?). It’s not pretty sight currently, but we will work on it!
